THE REASON FOR CHRISTIAN WORSHIP

WHY DO WE HAVE TO WORSHIP GOD?

But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
I was just thinking some time ago about the mystery of worship: how deep it is, for we in our imperfect mortal state can never fully fathom the very being whom we claim to worship; how God so much cherishes it that He would have to seek out worshippers. May the Holy Spirit that searches the deep thing of God and reveals them to the saints guide us into all truth and enlighten our hearts as we read. Just to pre-warn you before you continue reading, if you are satisfied with the status quo of what we term worship you’d better exit this blog right now because what I’m about to expose is the bone of the dealings of God with man and it will shift many paradigms in your life. If you decide to read on, congratulations for you are about to know the joy of worshipping God- no more will it be a boring chore you have to get through with in a haste but you will never ever want to leave the secret place of true worship.
God is a supreme being and obviously self-sufficient. He will fare well if not much better without us, so then why doesn’t He wipe us out considering our foolishness? We’ll have to look back and see it from God’s perspective why He insists that man must be the one to worship Him. I used to and still think that maybe God was lonely and wanted some company that could proclaim His greatness so he made Heaven to be His home. He created majestic beings called angels who were His ministers and particularly Lucifer who was the arch-angel in charge of worship. Unfortunately, Lucifer messed up- we all know that story. But the fact that never ceases to fascinate me is that assuming satan never fell, there might not have been any need for humans. God created us as a replacement to spite the devil and that is why he was so mad that he decided to hurt God by meddling with His grand plan. Too bad… we fell to his antics in the garden of Eden oblivious to what we had missed. God isn’t ready to lose his second creation that He gave the special gift of free-will and of being his children, so he sent Jesus to redeem us. Jesus said at a point that if we reject Him and refuse to give Him praise, He will raise up stones in our place.
The hour has come when true worshippers will worship God in spirit and in truth. God is seeking people that will abandon the archaic and worldly idea of worship and press into true worship. False worship of hypocrisy, many but vain actions and words are no longer acceptable.
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? Offer unto God thanksgiving… psalms 50:12-14a
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with it; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Isaiah 1:13
As Annie Dillard wrote:
On the whole, I do not find Christians, outside of the catacombs, sufficiently sensible of conditions. Does anyone have the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blithely invoke? Or as I suspect, does no one believe a word of it?... it is madness to wear ladies’ straw or velvet hats to church; we should all be wearing crash helmets. Usher should issue life preservers and signal flares.
I’m gonna highlight some reasons why we ought to worship God
·         God deserves our worship.
·         God demands our worship
·         The more we give God, the more we can receive from Him.
·         Worship reconnects our spirits to God
·         We gain access to God’s presence through worship
·         Worship moves God.

APRIL'S FOOL! NOT SO COOL...

Hey pal! What's up? And how have you been doing? Seriously, I know this blog has been so dry for a while now.  How ironic when I think back on how my new year resolution included me being consistent with blogging and sharing real life applications with my fans and friends.  Well, I guess that's the whole bane of resolutions. Use them for the first month, and then dump them into the basement of your life. Urgh! But no, sweet HS* won't let me rest. He's been nagging at me for a while now to write.  Even as I type out this blogpost, my phone's battery is low, and it's the witching hour (midnight, in case you're wondering). But I know He who gave me this assignment will help me. Amen. Oh, by the way, Happy New Month! April's fool mood in the air? Have you already been pranked? Have you pranked someone?  Hmmm... Is it even biblical to prank someone as a child of God? Think twice.  I'm guilty too, I'll admit.  I vividly recall how, years ag...

Nigerian Fiction Book Review: Teleporter

Hello, dear friend!  I come again bringing good tidings. I'm so excited to bring today's book to you, because OMG, it's so epic. This is a must-read for everyone, I tell you.  TITLE Teleporter A glimpse of the title alone will pique your curiosity.  According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, Teleportation is in fiction: instantaneous travel between two locations without crossing the intervening space Teleporter gives off vibes that will intrigue anybody. Of course, if you are quite familiar with European superhero movies and comics like Superman, The Flash, and Wonder Woman, then the concept of teleporting won't be strange to you.  However, it's rare to see a Nigerian story that includes mystical or science fiction concepts as this book did.  Before we move further, I'd like to invite the author herself in person of Muna Fausta to share with us her experience of why and how she wrote Teleporter. Over to you, Muna: ••• WHAT INSPIRED TELEPORTER? So I...
